In Azerbaijani, “Nowruz” spelled Novruz, is a traditional holiday which celebrates the astronomical spring equinox and the coming of the spring season.

At entrepreneurs Emran and Laleh Javadov Chefs Otelier Farm, in Escondido, Southern California, celebrating the Novruz has become a tradition.

Emran and Laleh feel it is their goal to bring people together, especially Azerbaijani–expats who have left their country and now call the United States their home. Nowruz [or Novruz] is a cherished celebration that connects them and their guests to their roots, helping to reminisce the sweetest memories of childhood and family get together.

Through this lovely celebration, Emran, Laleh and their guests keep their traditional culture alive and create a sense of belonging, no matter where they are.

On March 15, 2025, attended by the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, Mr. Vugar Gurbanov and consulate staff, Emran and Laleh’s guests attended a unique cultural Novruz grand feast celebration.

We, at US-AZ Cultural Foundation (USAZCF) believe that art, music, dance, film, television, and educational projects all feed the soul and expand horizons. A celebration the like of Novruz, with live performance, draws people together and fosters pride.

USAZCF purpose is to serve as a contributor to increase relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, via culture, educational dialogues and seminars, media, entertainment, film & documentary content.

With that in mind, introducing and celebrating the Novruz tradition in America helps bond Americans and American Azerbaijanis.
